I've followed the threads and made a lot of great mods to the 2011 KLX205S I purchased last fall:
MCM, DynoJet Stage 2, UNI filter, KDX200 Snorkel, 13T front sprocket & 43T rear.
I put an order in for an FMF Q4 to complete the mods (I'm looking for a balance between more power but not too loud). But with Covid, and living in Ontario Canada, my order has been "backorder" for months now. Anybody have any luck modifying the stock exhaust? I have a welder, grinder etc. Just looking to see what my options are if the Q4 doesn't appear. BTW: Was also planning on replacing the stock header with the MegaBomb but not until I tried the Q4 slip on.
I've searched the threads and haven't found any step by step for modifying stock exhaust. Any suggestions or advice would be much appreciated.
Thanks!
Here's a pic of the bike . . . can you tell my daughter and I had fun with stickers?! "88" is her favourite number but I have no idea why.
You are close to being able to achieve truly incredible power levels - add a Mega or Power bomb header to a Q4, yank off the airbox lid, install the lidless CVK setup.
Then hang on tight until you get used to the new power levels.

Thanks Klxster! So what you're saying is be patient . . . the Q4 will arrive eventually.
I'll admit to going a little cray cray right now with winter and lockdown. FYI I've run the bike lidless but got the KDX snorkel for those days when I want it a little quieter. Easy swap.
It is not possible to go back and forth between a lidless and KDX snorkel'd airbox. The fueling requirements for each are vastly different and require a complete carb teardown and setup of internal components.
If set up for lidless, putting the KDX snorkel on will create horrible overfueling.
If setup is for KDX snorkel, lidless running will create horribly lean fueling.

Gotcha - Thanks again Klxster! Given my current setup I'll wait till the Q4 comes in and see if the power gains are "good enough" or if I need more. Where I ride (cottage) is pure Canadian Shield. Meaning rocky, swampy and very hilly. Stock the KLX was simply to fussy and not forgiving if you came around a corner with with an unexpected log to pop over or steep muddy rut to power through.

Your immediate need is complete the MCM. Such will significantly increase your ability to handle those unexpected ruts and logs.

MCM is done and I also have local shop looking into FMF PowerBomb header pipe to add to my Q4 backorder as per your recommendations. Thanks again A TON Klsxter!
