Lightbulb Stock carb, Pumper carb or.......

With the mods I've started on my KLX I'm starting to get hooked on tweaking. I've tweaked my "flow", other than a breathier header, and it's been STRONGLY suggested that I re-jet. I'll get right on it. Really!!

Now I've heard stock vs pumper and the consensus seems to be the stock carb with re-jet gives about the same overall performance other than the pumper giving a quicker throttle response.

Sounds sensable to me.

OK, I'm new and I am learning alot BUT I am an outside the box thinker so I'll throw in something from time to time that might be stupid or maybe,.....just maybe, it might be something good.

That said. Has anybody ever tried or had any possitive success by installing a low preasure inline electric fuel pump??? 5-10 PSI........

That fuel pump was to extract fuel from the wings or the Acerbis tank.

I assume you mean one to pressurise the fuel going into the carb?

Not sure why you would want to do that.

That's why I was asking.

I was wondering if putting a low preasure electric pump between the tank and the carb make any difference.

Just a thought.

It shouldnt... the gas gets sucked into the motor by vacuum... with that you might start just flooding the motor..... The carb bowl should always have gas in it to feed the motor i highly doubt that would work at all.

the pump will most likely push past the 'bowl stop' and just pump out the over flow tube

A pumper carb isn't constantly pumping extra fuel. It pumps mostly on intital throttle opening where there is a lean spot (that causes the hesiation) untill the rest of the carb circuits can catch up.

It would just pressurize the fuel line to the bowl then.... That makes sense. Just thought I'd ask. Thanks for the input.

The pumper carbs have a brass insert from which the gas is injected upon inital throttle opening where the CVK doesn't
