Default Steering head bearing dry

Well I went on a ride today and the steering felt weird. Thought maybe it was the tire pressure so I stopped and let some out. Didn’t make a difference. Got home and put it on a stand and moved the handle bars lock to lock. When turned left the lower bearing had a squeaky sound. I am going to take it apart and grease the bearings. The bike is a 2023 klx300 with only 380 miles on it. Maybe a factory mistake. Doesn’t appear to be leaking anything out of the bottom of the steering head.

Not even a year old I would have brought it back to the shop & had them fix it.

I bought the bike used with 17 miles on it. No warranty.

Well I got the bike torn down and the lower bearing had some crap in it. Didn’t spin smooth with the grease in it. Kinda notchy so I cleaned the bearings real good with kerosene and blew them dry. They were in real good condition and the races looked fine with no scoring. So I packed them with lube and put it all back together. After I was done I noticed the squeak was still there. That happened to be the clutch cable. So I lubed it and the noise went away. Took it out for a slow speed ride in the neighborhood and it’s steering normal again.
