Default Speedo off about 10%

I have heard this is somewhat common on them. How do I go about calibrating it to be correct? Thank you in advance. Looking forward to browsing the threads and getting this bike set up. Bought a 2012 with 481 miles on it.

Congrats on the new bike, its a normal issue for all KLX owners, I just live with it as 10% is easy to calibrate in your head.

110 speedo = 100 real
77 speedo = 70 real
33 speedo = 30 real

The only problem with figuring it in your head is the miles still get added at a 10% higher rate too.

Check your odo carefully. Some are more accurate than the speed indicator.

Good call. I will check the odometer. I figured it was calibrated off of the speedo.

Seems the Japanese are good at having the speedo off by about 10%, but the Odo being near spot on.

I had the same problem till I found out about the 12 Oclock Labs speedo fix. After I installed the easy to install device on my 2009 KLX250S, I'm now at or near 100% correct according to my GPS. I wish I had done this when I first got the bike. I bought mine from Motomummy.com.

Saves money and points on license if you pass a cop at 10 over...
