I won what was advertised on eBay as a KLX300 exhaust. It came late last night, and when I opened the box today, it says its a KHI (or 1) KLX250D (my stock exhaust says KHI (or 1) KLH250H. They are definetly different.

The one that came does have the removable end cap/butt plug (not included) and there was nothing in it (peashooter??). The header pipe and pipe from the exhaust to the header pipe are probably at least 1/4 to 1/2 inch larger diameter over stock (i will measure tomorrow).

I put it on, sounds nice (maybe a bit too loud). Took about a 5 mile blast, and it definetly seems to have more pull. If I decide to keep this, I know I need to rejet. Am I doing a lot of damage with just a few miles riding it without rejeting?

So what did I get? Should I send it back to the seller? What should the KLX300 exhaust say on it?

 

You got the KLX 300 exhaust. Good find. Yes rejet ASAP. The bike will run a little leaner but if you keep the airbox lid on and the stock snorkel then you can ride it until you get the parts without much fuss.

Kawi doesn't make it easy to decipher their models. There are quite a few designations for basically the same bike. Just one example , the owners manual for my KLX 250s calls it a KLX 250H and the vin sticker simply says LX250H. Thats just to name a few. $29 is a steal!! As long as you got it to fit it should be fine. Just do the re-jet.

 

also kaw uses that same pipe on 250's in other markets, we just call it the 300 pipe here
