Default SM wheels uk

Hey guys

I've been trying to find a set of supermoto wheels for some time but without any luck.

Has any one had any luck getting some or know which other wheels are compatible with the klx?

My bike see's virtually 0 time off-road so supermoto wheels would be great!

Thanks

I'm thinking about the same thing. I have a set of Dunlops for off road only, but I love zipping around the hood. I want to get a more street oriented wheelset.

Contact Jim @ motoxindustries He can build just about anything and set you up with tires mounted/balanced ready to go. Hopefully shipping won't be too crazy.

Supermoto is a blast!

From what I found, you can either get Excel Wheels (which are mega expensive) or find a set of used KLX250SF wheels. I tried other companies like Dubya and Warp9 but no one makes the hubs for the 2009-2014 KLX 250s so they ask for either Excel hubs or for you to supply stock hubs. I would suggest going the SF route - was the best option for me .

I tried taking the SF route but unfortunately that model isn't available over here.

Seems that only option available to us is having some built.

No doubt the easiest way, since you can't get a front hub and don't plan on doing off road, having your stock hubs laced up to new rims is the hot ticket. Keep the old spokes and rims to sell with the bike if you wish. The SF uses 4.00x17 and 3.00x17. It should be lower cost than buying whole wheels.

This is what I did when I converted my 2006 of to a SM setup. I just bought the rims from motox linked above and had Buchanan's (https://www.buchananspokes.com/) make me a set of spokes for the front and rear.

You can get a shop to lace and true the new wheels for you but all of the shops around me wanted $400 and up. After watching a few how to videos it really wasn't that hard to do myself. Total was around $500 (not including new tires) so definitely cheaper than buying a whole new set or having a shop build the wheels for me.

There ya go. Find a source for your spokes and rims. Spoking up motorcycle rims isn't that hard, truing isn't bad either. Make sure the rims are drilled for a KLX or KX and what the cross pattern will be to get the right spoke length. Look at some videos on building. I actually learned from doing bicycles.
