Default On a serious note...

Since we've had a lot of tire threads in the last while, I should mention this.
I've been using a Michelin Starcross HP4 on the front of my motocross bike for the better part of a season. This is a hardpack/blue groove tire that some dual sport guys have been using with good results.
It's wider than a standard front, has 1 mm lower knobbies and looks as good today as the day I installed it. I think it would be a good choice for the guys who are more dirt oriented, but still need a tire to work and last on the street. It is not DOT.
Currently on clearance at motorace closeouts.

I race on predominantly hardpack, natural terrain, and this tire is unbelievable.

Hmmm...never even heard of that model. Interesting. That's one unique tread pattern. The compound and pattern do sound very DS worthy.

Yeah, I'm getting gun shy about non-DOT tires, because it seems that park, forest, and BLM rangers are getting interested in asking about equipment over the past two years on my UT and CO trips. I've been staying with DOT versions exclusively now, and it's not a big deal since there are so many good versions now.

That's the same auction. The one I linked to showed shipping to Canada. Even with shipping, it's still cheaper than what they cost here. I like this tire so much, I'm going to buy a few more before they're all gone. They may be discontinued. Some shops say they are, some say they aren't.

Ahhh I see. Shipping charges to Canada suck.
