Scala Rider intercom
I ride alot with one friend. He has a pair of the Scala Rider Q2 Pro wireless bluetooth intercoms. This weekend he mounted one on my helmet for our day ride off into the hills (195 miles). Took about 3 minutes to mount.
Holy **** these intercoms are badass. What a whole new experience that was!!! Added a new and extra dimension to our ride. My buddy knows the whole NW like the back of his hand and now he was like a tour guide on the fly! Plus you can instantly warn each other about obstacles as they occur. PLUS ( I didnt know it while riding) each unit has FM stereo. They do a ton more like connect to your Ipod (MP3) or cellphone or your talking GPS.
Conversations were crystal clear under 45 mph. Wouldve been better over that if my helmet wasnt so 'vented'.
Wireless intercoms have came A LONG WAY since the last piece of junk I had (chatterbox) or some such thing.
When I got back home, He removed the intercom from my helmet and I bought a used Scala Rider G4 off ebay used, immediately, because I was so impressed.
Anyone else try these out with their buddies?

idk if youd hear anything but me cussing about every little bad thing i do when i'm riding i usually only talk to myself and try to stay in my zone, but i'm not much of a casual rider so it could be fun for putting around
Hey whyzee,
I have a set of G4 also and really enjoy them. They have been a godsend for mentoring the GF along her rides, giving advanced warnings, talking her through practice maneuvers, knowing when it's time to pee, etc. My set uses Velcro to attach the speakers inside the helmet. Did your buddy stick some Velcro in your helmet or use tape?
At some point in the future, I want to convert them for earbud use. This modification cancels the manufacture's warranty, so was holding off for a while. Between enjoying a little music while on the trail and that damn noisy pipe, earbuds are nice on the ear drums. We're using AFX39 helmets and the wind noise after 45 or so gets to the point of the intercoms being nearly useless. I connect by wire to the MP3 player, and have toyed with the FM player and bluetooth to my phone
I'd like to go for a ride with you and your buddy sometime. We went to Copper Basin over the weekend and rode till we nearly dropped.

Hi Scott. The inside of my HJC helmet is kind of fuzzy where the ear pockets are so the speakers stuck and stayed put just fine. Bob wears an AFX39 also. He crafted some wind block pieces to help keep the blast of wind off of the boom mic, which made his setup more windproof than mine.
I think we're going to do the same 195 mile ride this Saturday morning, which goes by Silver City, the dirt road to Jordan Valley, and the Kinross-Delmar mine. You in?

No, can't ride this weekend. Too bad because I want to get back out to that area this year. Going to watch the Big Nasty Hill Climb the following Saturday. I want to see what Bob did for a wind sock.
I have a set of the Q2 and so does my cousin. Last year we rode to the Grand Canyon and talked about half the time and the other half we listened to our own music but could tap the button and talk. It worked as advertised. The only time we lost connection was when we were separated by a corner, at the bottom of a long dip or when a semi truck got between us. This year we went to Yellowstone and we ended up talking all day nearly most of the trip. But don't tell my wife, you know how they are about us talking more to them. LOL What we did was we brought both sets, and charged one while using the other one so we could switch them out. We could usually get about 6 hours of constant talking before the units would beep for low battery. Over all I really like them. And yes the wife likes to talk while we ride too. It's all good.
I wanted to add that for these to really work with good sound, you have to build up the back of the speakers so that they come out and touch your ear. Thats when the quality gets real good.
