Carry on with your habit of wearing all the gear. ATGATT - All The Gear All The Time.

No telling when things might go sideways, hopefully never.

My getup - fullface, gloves, cordura jacket and pants (armoured) and boots (which I should upgrade, just using safety toe work boots)

Hell yeah. If you plan on doing any riding on concrete then I'd get good gloves and a jacket that's resistant to abrasion. Make sure your helmet is dot legal and wear your boots. If you could spring for pants then that's a plus. I think eating it on the street is almost worse in some cases then the dirt. Good luck with the bike.

For the street a bike jacket, gloves and obviously a good helmet. For the dirt good riding boots, riding pants, gloves and a helmet. If your going to be jumping and getting crazy then add in a chest protector and neck guard.

The only thing that hasn't been mentioned, but I wear when riding in the dirt, is knee/shin pads, elbow/forearm pads, and an articulated spine protector from 661 (bicycle gear), it has saved me from rocks more than once when taking a tumble off the bike.
My MX boots have saved my ankles more than once too.
I feel it's better to be riding, than telling a war story as to why I am broken.
