What riding gear do you guys wear?
Hey guys, I'm new to riding and I was wondering what types of riding gears you guys recommend. What's good about the gear? Price? Looks? Please list links to pictures and price.
I don't have any riding gear except for helmet and gloves. I wear a jacket and jeans. I need to buy something good at a decent price. Thanks.

hmm, no help here. I wear a suit from Z custom leathers and AGV products. Long term of 17 yrs, cost around $16/yr for road protection.
edit: That does not include patching! Or replacement helmets!

Try newenough.com. A good place to get good gear cheap. As for brands, eeeee; there are plenty. I'd stick with a reputable name like Joe Rocket, Dianese, AGV, Tecknic, etc. Depending upon what kind of riding you do, buy accordingly, but go for good armor: elbows, shoulders, back at minimum. I personally prefer hard armor to that foamy stuff, even in my regular streetjackets. Not "if" butwhenI go down, I want some serious stuff between me and whatever I hit.
Pants? Yeah; if you'rea bit more hard core, buy em; wear em.
Boots? Definitely. Again, all over the map in terms of style, brands, price. Buy some that at least cover your ankles. The "look" is up to you, but don't skimp on the protection.
I've been intentionally vague regarding styling andbrands. Buy what works for you, but again, don't skimp on the protection.

tour master jacket
I like the jacket its got good elbow protection as well as back and shoulders. Its a three peice jacket that all zips into one. Outer layer is made of a pretty sturdy mesh design with pockets on the out side and inside total of 5 pockets... next is the Rain/Wind proof jacket that has buttons to hold the sleves together. (so when you take it off your not turning one inside out just to get it off) And there is also a Thermal insulated inner vest that zips into the rain/wind jacket... all in all i really like it. some times i just wear the Rain/wind jacket with the thermal other times when its hot the mesh doesnt even feel like i'm wearing a jacket and on thoes cold days i put em all on for a snug warm fit. I think i bought it for $120.00 last year. probably cheaper now
Fox boots, just some used boots i got on ebay.... totaly saved my leg when i crashed. they were the big ones that come up just under you knees.
not the most pratical but very safe. ($60 barley used)
Fox mx Gloves saved my hands as well... $20
helmut (must have) $160 they have some cheaper then that

I was thinking that it depends alittle on what part of the world you are in and what type of bike you have, how experienced a rider you are and how you intend to ride. Protection is after all the most important thing. If you have lots of bucks, your local dealer can fix you up. If you do not have a gazillion dollars to spend you can usually find the same stuff at other stores. I got the exact same jacket and chaps from an "aftermarket" type store for $100.00 less. Because I bought for me and the wife and spent over $400.00, they even threw in a couple of free T shirts.
Things not to cheap out on are helmet & gloves. Again, depending on the type of riding you do.
Now, here in Canada........good zip in lined leather jacket 1/2 to 1 size too big to fit T shirt, shirt and heavy sweater under. Lined chaps that are made of leather that looks like it was chain sawed off the cow (thick) and allow for 2 pairs of pants and long johns. Full face helmet 1 size too big to fit knitted hat, scarf and balaclava. Gloves that look like baseball mitts (don't forget the battery powered hand warmers have to fit inside). Boots, well I find that the Kodiak insulated, good to 60 below work pretty well with 3 pairs of socks.
Then, in the winter, when it gets cold...............

I've got pro sports leathers (as can be seen in my gallery, heh), jet helmetand boots with rigid protector, so that when you go down, the bike wont crush your foot. Having a street enduro I don'tmove about athigh speeds but still never ride nekkid like evil636. Speaking of riding neckid - a while back I posted a nice vid in sights & sounds section
