Default ride report 2

pix from todays ride

We started off well I fell off on wet red clay doing about 30 - 40 kmh broke the bolt for the barkbusters. Lucky Mick had duct tape, thanks Mick. Hurt my knees a bit but I'm ok, we kept riding for a while and we came accross Phil on his KTM625 monster thingy lol. He offered to show us around, we followed Phil through these really narrow (single track), really slippery trails with both Phil and myself dropping our bikes at low speed, no damage done. I was really struggling and thought maybe I should lower my tyre pressures, I'm really not this bad a rider and I know the bike is better than this. I felt like I needed trainer wheels @!!!!
Anyway we got to this hill and I was really doubtfull that I could make it, however the other guys made it ok so I thought it can't be that bad. So off I go with NO wheel traction at all and I gets about 3/4 the way up and my bike stops, I'd run outta speed. Well I grabbed the front brake so I could just turn around and go back down but of course no traction and the front wheel just slid out from under me.
Picked it up and rode to the bottom of the hill, by this time the other guys had come back and so I says I will have to lower the air pressure. Phil felt my tyre and said jeez I dunno how you got this far these tryes are like rocks lol (I still had the same pressure the shop had put in for the road). So Phil being the most experianced I let him do it.
Wow what a difference I made it so easy it was like being on a different bike, up a few more hills I was starting to finally have some fun and then I got that feeling of the rear starting to step out on turns ... uh oh. Yep you guessed it ... flat tyre. ^%$%$#%@^&*.
Well now, we are in the middle of no-where, Mick, Josh and myself have no spares, no tools apart from basic tool kit you get with the bike, no mobile phone coverage. Umm help !!! Lucky for me Phil had a front tube. Let me tell you a 21" tube will fit and work in a 18" rear, good enough to get home anyway, thanks Phil !!!. Took us about an hour or so to change and pump up (with Phils pump) Thanks Phil.
Anyway we rode slowly past Ulong (see pix) and back to Cooramba pub for a well deserved drink and air in my tyres and then headed home. Rim locks are on my shopping list !!!

Great ride report, I am loving the pictures!
I just back in from alot of riding today, got way more of a feel for my bike. I was practicing how to get the bike going up when stopped on a large hill riding upwards, as if you were stopped in traffic and had to keep on going forward very slowly moving up the hill. I still need to practice this a good bit since I do not have it down pat. My bike took its 1st spill today in the back yard [:@]. Lol, The rain here in georgia has been relentless and I was riding it off road to see how it felt, feels good by the way, and I tried to turn in my back yard with nothing but red wet clay, and down she goes, with me lol, nothing got busted and the bike was ablsolutley fine. I actually had a good deal of fun in the back yard, I got alot of it, and my wife is going to kill me when she gets home lol, oh well, got to use the back yard for something. Due to the fact that I got a bike my neighbor had to go out and buy one too, lol, so I look forward to riding with him in the future. The keeping it under 4000 rpms for 600 miles is really not letting any power out of her, though I plan on keeping her under 6,000, it doesnt even sound right to change gears when you hit 4000 rpms, sounds like you need to go alot higher before changing gears, but I will follow instructions per manufacturar.

Read it, sounds interesting. So you do his tactic for the 1st 200 miles, and then you can pretty much ride her how ever you want too? Sounds alot better then staying under 4000 rpms for 500 miles. Seems like I'm do for an oil change too. Thanks for the info.
