Default Removing Counter Sprocket

Wow,

i have removed counter sprockets before, but nothing like this on my 2006 KLX 250

Any Ideas? i cannot get the nut off the shaft. Pryed the washer back, but that nut just wont move. it will not get loose or tight, even tried to heat it up and it does nothing.

thanks

Careful with the heat. You might melt the seal behind the sprocket. Get somebody with an air impact wrench.
good luck

A common thread question, do a search and you'll find lots of suggestions.

I went with a long, small diameter bar through the sprocket jammed up to the swing arms to lock the wheel then a big cheater bar. Regular threads - lefty loosey.

Good excuse to buy that Craftsman 1/2" drive electric impact wrench you've always wanted.

$25 harbor freight electric impact wrench did the job...little impact and twist, and off light butter...

Yup, it's a b!tch to come out. I had to take the bike to a shop to use an impact gun before I messed up something else.

LISTEN TO THIS GUY ! ! !

you don't want mechanical tools that will screw up the fine thread

would you use an Impact wrench on your girl friend or wife ????

Treat your KLX like a fine women and she will treat you right for years to come

THINK TWICE before you try using Automotive machines to repair a delicate petunia like the KLX ! !!

I have tried...big wrench, air impact gun, some heat, PB blaster, cheater bar, small socket, heck even a swiss army knife.....I am afraid I am going to break something.

i'm sweating, just telling the story

thanks
