Default rebound screw question

I have always heard rebound settings being refered to as fast or slow, not hard and soft as what the shock says. Which way do you turn the screw to slow down or speed up the rebound? I think softer would be slowing it down and harder would be speeding it up but I am not sure if that is correct. Thanks

Yes, correct. If you make the rebound stiffer, it recovers quicker.

Its just like a needle valve, rebound in = slower; out=faster
