Default Rear brake lever position

When I sit normally on the bike, the position of the rear brake lever seems really too high. I have to lift my foot from the peg to apply rear brake. Do you have the same problem?

You can adjust the position to your liking.

That's what I did - lowered it a bit otherwise I seemed to want to drag the brake when wearing my MX boots. It's much better now. If you do lower it, but sure and adjust your brake light switch activation point otherwise it might be on all the time.

Good advise! I need to lower mine also. I have the same problem when wearing my MX boots. It is hard to shift with those things on too.

Oh man I have the same problem, it wasn't bad when I just had hiking boots on but with 10" steel toe workboots (compromise for work comfort and some street protection) I have to take my foot off the peg to use the rear brake, especially if I'm standing up. So what did you guys do to lower the pedal? The one on my Yamaha Warrior atv had an adjustable stop point with a long turnbuckle on it but the only thing I could think of doing with the KLX setup is to screw in the plunger rod but I don't see much adjustment there so I left it alone.

The manual says it's non-adjustable, but it really is. You need to disconnect the clevis pin from the lever - cotter pin. Then loosen the nut above the clevis and then screw the clevis further up on the rod which connects it to the master cylinder to lower the pedal height. When the height is right, tighten it back up and reinsert the clevis pin. Don't forget to adjust the brake light actuator switch - there's an adjustment for that too. Otherwise, the brake light may be actuated after you lower the brake lever or be ultra-sensative.
