That's one of the mods I have on my KLX. A bit more jetting is required as the air flow is enhanced. It kind of removed a 'stumble' in the bike around 9500 rpm. I think that was due to some imposed turbulence in the intake tract by the backfire screen.
The guys running the YZ450F in motorcross all use pumper carbs as I do. Since their bikes are so much more high strung than mine, if they feel that there is adequate protection to avoid heated removal of all posterior hirsute material, I think it will work for me.
Yep, just another little step to add a bit of power to the KLX250.
Wasn't that backfire screen a PITA to get out? I have big meathooks for hands and it was a real tough fit to get them down in that airbox for the bottom nuts! But I won and I'm glad of it!
