Default Quick front brake line question

I recently removed my forks and swingarm to lube all the bearings, easy job, lots to remove, well worth it.

Anyway, the little block that holds the front brake line to the bottom of the fork, on mine it moves/slides back and forth a little, it seems the sleeve for the bolt is a bit longer than the block and it appears to be like this by design.

Regret I didn't take notice of this when I removed it, is this normal, do they slide a bit or am I missing a washer or something?

Dunno, mine is hanging on the wire fence. Is this the one you mean?

I'm sure mine wasn't loose before I removed it

Yep that's the part. But if you look you can see your bolt has a small gap before the block. Mine does too, which is where I am not sure if a washer ran away somewhere or if it is supposed to have some lateral play in it.

Just checked mine and it floats on the bolt, no washer. Looks like it was designed that way.

Thanks a lot, puts my mind at ease. It seemed like Kawi wanted it to float but wasn't sure and the service manual didn't show a washer either, but again, I wanted to be sure.

BTW, I will say everyone should grease up the bearings, my head bearings had grease, but not much and it was pretty well broken down, the needle bearings on the swingarm and shock linkage were pretty dry. None were damaged...yet.

I'll probably pull mine down and grease while it's too cold to ride.

What kind of grease did you use. I was thinking some kind of marine grade.

I used Silkolene Synthetic Racing Grease. It is waterproof and made for all types of bearings. Really good stuff, but not cheap.

The bolt is supposed to have that free play, which lets the caliper "float" as well as it can with that hard pipe design they chose for the brake line.

Mine has a gap cause I was undoing it, that's why the spanner is on it. That pic was part of my replace the brake lines with Stainless Steel lines post, it certainly was not loose before I undid it
