My reasoning for buying new is that I know the bike wasn't ragged on... yeah you can save a grand or two buying a used bike but what happens if you get a lemon? You're dumping all your extra money into fixing it... so you have a $4500 moped that's OLD and not NEW. I'd buy a used 2-stroke but IDK that I'd buy a used 4-stroke unless I KNOW it was properly maintained (valves, oil changes, etc).

Yeah my 09 is beat to hell... its my first bike... but I know mechanically it is 100% solid because I take care of it. Its a dirt bike, the plastics are gonna get thrashed.... but the motor is what's important.

I'm going to vote get an 09 every day that ends in Y. Not just because I got one... but because its the newer bike.

Get the 09. Chicks dig em, especially the red one LOL. I have never worried about scratching a new dirt bike. Scratched news ones don't look any worse than scratched old ones. If you ride like your supposed to they all get scratched in no time.Nothing like a brand new scoot.Tight is right.

Oddly enough you're right! My gf had to have a red one, she wasn't going for the green. Now we both have red bikes to go with my red car. Oh yeah, my mom and aunt also have red bikes. I bought my bike because it was cheap and my car because it was quick, but women love red bikes.

Default Thanks again for all the advice!

Well I think that I am going to purchase the Green 2009 KLX250S from the dealer this week without purchasing the extended warranty.

I really appreciate all of the great input from everyone!!

I am looking forward to getting out on the trails.

Good call! Never get extended warranties on dirtbikes, if something breaks, upgrade!

werrrrd!

That's always been my philosophy with pretty much anything.

And in most cases, even if it doesn't break!

It's called a preemptive strike, get the new parts before the old parts get you!
