Pro Taper CR High bend causing cable issues
Just plunked a new set of bars on the bike, had a left side lay down the other evening on the way home from work. Everything was going smoothly until the end, whence I realized the cables were too short for my fancy new bars.
I was pretty excited about having wider bars as I do mostly street riding and felt the stock bars could be a little roomier for my build. The quick easy solution here is to cut the bars down and tear off my new grips (19.00can down the drain) and buy a new set. The other option I see is getting longer cables.
I'm going to go ahead and guess that grips are cheaper than cables.... But perhaps someone knows of an alternative solution? Can I lower my triple tree a couple inches? re route the cables? get some cheap cables that fit from another bike?
All ideas are appreciated

From seeing some of the reports here, I'm beginning to think the '06/'07 models had longer cables. I have higher, rear set Renthal bars on mine, and I just did a slight rerouting to accommodate them.
I managed to route the cables as well, they are still quite reclusive and out of the way. Probably will order teh KLX300 clutch cable at some point but no rush as of yet. The wider bars are awesome, as well as the added height. Might drop em down a touch, but the wider sweep makes it seem like its coming waayyyyyy back on the saddle.
I'm very pleased with the Pro Taper SE Cr High bend. I'm 5'11'' with a lanky build, so this is an improvement over stock.
One thing I farkled was the drilling of holes for the killswitch and turn signal housings. They twist on the bar with some persuasion. Might have been smart to wait and drill the necessary holes instead of clip off the peg that holds them in place
Some tape on the bar for grip and we are good to go.

From various posts here I suspect that cables on the '09 + have some production variables since some people have no problems at all with higher/wider bars/risers and others do.
Wrapping some tape on the bar to provide grip for the switches is THE way to go. Drilling that new bar will create a "break-point" at nap time.

My 2009 also needed longer cables for the CR High bars. With the stock cables, turning the bars left would cause the clutch to disengage a little.
Note: I also added a 3/4" riser.
So the fix was to buy a KLX300 cable - worked perfectly!
