I'd be surprised if any of the repair methods hold up to riding in the woods. That's not saying you shouldn't try them. On mine i just came to realize that more than likely i was going to smash them again, so zip ties and stickers.

My goal was not to have my shrouds survive a crash. If a new shroud often breaks on impact, I would not expect a repaired one to survive. I just wanted a repair that was relatively cheap and simple, that will hold up to normal riding, and can be repeated if necessary. So far, so good but only time will tell.

I've used rivets and a thin piece of sheet metal tabs across the crack in the passed with great results. Just cut 1" x 1/2" pieces and small gutter pipe rivets. Put one across crack every 2" or so. Very solid fix. Put stickers over rivet if you don't like the look or color rivet with same color magic marker.

What have you used cover your front brake caliper?

Thought i had more info in that thread ^^^. Just a piece of aluminum angle that i cut a Kawi "K" out of. It has gotten banged a few times over the years, so i think it's doing it's job. Notice the one on the front too.
