bmwhd, yes i meant the 650. is he talking about the side of the sprocket that sticks out? is this the "shoulder"? looks like it is flat and the nut shouldn't have a problem tightening up to it. now, if only Lou Ferrigno would come over and help me get this nut off i may be able to enjoy the new sprocket. Travis
The shoulder (or spacers if you have the wrong sprocket) go on the inside away from the nut and locking ring.

The broom handle thing will work if you put the handle on the bottom chain and let it pinch as the rear sprocket tries to go around. Also get someone with some weight and have them sit on the bike.
But don't tell them I said that lol

thanks, didn't know that either. probably would have figured it out watching the oem one come off though. i wish i could get the dang thing off. the broomstick won't fit in the sprocket holes. it's smaller than 1" like you say, at least mine is.
Anything made of wood that is strong will work, it just shouldn't be metal as you'll dent the swing arm (don't ask me how I know).
