painting plastic
09 klx250s....white number plate, white over the headlight, white fork guards....i want them black. Paint them or buy black ones, if buy where? If paint with what? I'm just worried about painting them and having to repaint them allllll the time.

Unless you are planning on only doing street riding, forget about painting it. Every scratch will show through as white. Buying replacement plastics could get very pricey, but unsure of exact cost. It depends on how badly you want to change the color!

Each black item is fifty or sixty bucks. 2 fenders, 4 panels, you do the math.
I re painted the number plates black because the guy that had the bike before me had some Fugly saddle bags and they scratched the heck out of the plates. I sanded and repainted them black. I think they look pretty good, but if you are going off road.....

you might be able to dye them. I've seen people sucsessfully do with synthetic firearm parts though true plastic and polymer might be two different animals.
Rit dye in about double the recommended amount per water ratio with a pakage of dark green to prevent the "purple" sheen, HOT water and a insulated tub (big cooler works well) to let the whole shebang soak in is how i saw it done.

I haven't read of anyone doing it on here yet, but a while back I posted a thread about using dye to change colors. Give it a shot, and let us know how it works.

vinyl wrap or get plastic primer from Lowes. Comes in a spray can. Then paint over it with regular spray paint. Used it on the plastic moldings on my house. Worked great but like the other guys said "Every scratch will show".
