Smile Hi all! New here and just wanted to say thanks.

So I have been (sand bagging) on the forum for about a year taking in all the great info. I just got a 2010 klx250s last week, traded my 2003 nomad in for it at the dealer. I have been thinking about doing this for a while and finaly got it done. A few years ago I had a klx300 and loved it. Thought that I would like the 250 because I could hit the dirt and the road all in one. The bike is great and with some mods I think it will be even better. I have on the way in this week A 13tooth sprocket, edge tail light,Q4,took air box cover off,and a skid plate. Going to get the carb done next week. There has been a lot of great info here and just wanted to say thanks to all. With that said has any one put a kick start on a newer klx250. I think that is some thing that I would like to do for a back up, and what is a good mod for the air filter or is the stock one fine? Keep you posted on my progress.

The dealer put a kickstarter on my 2009. Works great. It cost a few hundred but I would rather not depend on a battery as my only way to start the engine.

The air filter is large and I don't see it as a big restriction. I would leave it be until it needs to be replaced.

You don't mention any handguards. Having stout protection for my fingers and levers has saved my bacon plenty of times.

Welcome to the forums fishman, glad to have you on here. I also want to install the kickstarter on my bike. I added one on the wifes bike and it was a peice of cake. Ours however is more complicated. I did the install a couple of days after I had my vacectomy....YIKES!!!! I guess a sack of frozen peas wasn't enough to keep me occupied. LOL And yes that story is right here. hahahaha

Congrats on the new toy!
Most people on here end up putting on a free flowing after market air filter. Twin air , NoToil, etc. etc.

Removing the backfire screen inside the airbox would add as much flow if not more than most stock type filters will add but it would require a jetting change for that alone. Depending on how you removed the screen you might want to cover any remaining wires with some silicone to keep them from the motor.
