Heh! I just did a Google search of "KLX250S paddle tire" and found this thread. A little late I know, but I love riding my KLX in the sand, have had it out there many times (I live in Eugene, about an hour away from the Florence Dunes), but I only go when the sand is wet because I am running a stock bore (FMF exhaust, jet kit and opened airbox) and knobby tire and the bike will just sink into the dry sand too much with not enough traction and power to get up and stay up at a proper speed.

So I've been kicking around the idea of getting a dunes bike (250 2 stroke), or I thought maybe a 351 big bore kit matched with a paddle tire could do the job. I'm no motocrosser, just a dualsport cruiser who loves riding in the sand (it's addictive!) so I don't need a CR500 to satisfy my sand cravings, I just need a bike that keep itself up to speed and get up the taller dunes without bogging out.

So now I know from watching this video that the 351 has what it takes to pull a paddle and keep the bike going a decent speed in dry sand. I'm wondering what tire he used (how many paddles?), and did the tire fit without any modifications to the bike?

Thanks!
Dave

I don't know what tire that is, but will ask him. No modifications to fit it. He is running tubliss, but it will also work with tubes. I helped him spoon it on, and the sidewalls were pretty stiff, but we got it on without damaging the tubliss inner tube.

Thanks Bill. I was thinking there might be a clearance issue between the paddles and the inner part of the swingarm. Also I was curious about the tire since there aren't very many paddle tires available in 18", most are 19", and I was wondering if he was running 6 paddles or 8. Thanks again!

My son said the tire is a SEDONA, 110/100-18 M/C, with 8 paddles.

Oregon Dune riders may want to check this out:

OREGON - Comments Needed on Oregon Dunes 10c Designated Routes Project DEIS
Dear Oregon Dunes Fan,
This is one of the most important action alerts for coastal sand-based recreation on federal lands that BRC has issued in recent history. Your future access to historic riding opportunities at the Oregon Dunes is at grave risk if you do not weigh in with a comment letter.

You're welcome. I think that you can sign up for Blue Ribbon Coalition alerts without becoming a member. I am a member. BRC efforts have made a big difference here in Idaho. We lost some great riding areas in Owyhee County, but not nearly as much if it hadn't been for their great work.
