Ordering my 351 - Need Carb advice
#23
Thanks, I figured that the sprocket would be the best starting point. As for the 351, aside from the obvious displacement, what are it's biggest advantages? i.e. what will it help with the most (hill climbs, mid-range torque, etc.)?
(yes, I did read BigSky's thoughts on his 351!)

I second that. The 351 is definitely on my wish list along with a 3.2 to 3.8 gallon tank that will fit the 2009. I won't order one without the other since right now the fuel range is killing me with my current set up. Hate to have it drink even an ounce more fuel without adding the larger tank!

I just spent 4 days riding trails in Oregon and my 351 worked great down there. My riding buddy was on a stocker [his first trail trail ride] and he went on res on a 59 mile ride. We went the same distance with me being in a higher gear so I would guess I was getting better milage. He usually gets more out his tank than me. Doing logging and paved roads.
I switch back and forth between a 12 and 14 depending on what I'm planing on doing for the day. I go 50+- at about 6200RPM with the 12. I haven't tried the 12 with the 351 yet. The 12 lets me do the slow stuff pert good. I picked up a 15 for when I get new chain and stuff.
TNC, changing the carbs was no prob. The BB was plug and play[twist].
I never rode the 351 with the stock carb but I bet it would be a hoot.
