That's the hot glue. I just positioned everything and pumped in a bunch of hot glue and let it cool down and trimmed any excess that seeped out. Use one of these and a bunch of glue sticks - random photo selected from google images:

i got my klx today (well...1am, yesterday)

the bike looks awesome, i'm glad i was able to get
the 07 model, below is a picture, its heavier than it looks,
had to take it up the stairs to my apartment what a pita job



there are a few things that definitly have to go:

signal lights > motorhispania furia signals
mirrors > not sure yet, can i take em off without getting a ticket?
rear fenderand that huge light > furia taillight
handshields > acerbis
reflectors > walmart mini reflectors
stock exhaust > hmm...couldn't find one
and a few more minor things

i'll try to get a hold of some european mx taillights, my
buddy will visit me in april, the are small and have the
licenseplate light included

i cant wait to ride it, unfortunatly i have to take
the driving skills test since my international license
is no good in the states

will keep you updated on the bike

if there are dualsport ppl close to maryland let me know

I'm in Pa.....about 2 hours from you...LOL....Your awesome taking it up the steps to the living quarters....a short story....The other week when i had my cast on i mentioned to my wife that i would totally bet my bike would never start in the 19* temps we had at the time....we were sitting in the living room enjoying some choice spirits....she then suprised me by saying "well lets go get it and bring it in the living room so it stays warm"....I busted out into laughter and i couldn't stop for about 15 minutes....she kept asking me what was so funny and i just told her it was nothing......(she was half in the bag tho and that is rare)....I should have taken up her offer now that i look back on it and she prolly would have been suprised in the morning when she got up...
illenium please go take the MSF class to get your license.They do provide the bikes in MD i think (Iknow they do in Pa.) It is a free class or a small fee (35$ i think at tops) and they do provide the bike for you....you will learn alot and also get your license.I took the class as well and even after riding for 12 years i still learned alot!Do it and be safe.I would imagine you have insurance coverage if you got a plate as well.good luck and welcome aboard.

Yes the mirrors are required by MDDOT and so are the turn signals.....keep 'em...you need to be visible to cagers.

 

hey another marylander.. yes maryland MSF courses provide you with a cheapy bike to toss around. thats part of the price tag for the course. i took the course on base for free but had to use my own bike.

i remember when i was 15 and bought my first dirtbike, a streetlegal motorhispania furia, just 50 ccm (only 50ccm
under 18 where im from), i didn't realize how smale the reserve tank was, well...ended up pushing the bike
to the next gasstation, about 6 miles... 2 hours.. thank god for cellphones

we works for auner motorsports close to the KTM factory, my buddy will bring
the parts when he visits me in april

i read alot of threads on this page, and many complain about lack of
power in the lower rpm...

whats the topspeed of the klx (constant speed without stressing the engine)..?

 

You should have no problem getting 60 MPH out of it comfortably in stock form without reaching the higher limits of the RPM range, the first shortcoming in power you will notice will probably be its inability to maintain its speed in 6th gear once a hill is encountered. Drop her down a gear and get on the gas.
