Default Old swingarm with snail adjusters

Replaced my 2018 KLX 250s D-shaped swingarm with screw-locknut adjusters with 1st. generation swingarm and snail adjusters for less than $50 from eBay. Quick positive chain alignment and tensioning with snails. And easier rear tire removal.

I always preferred the snail style axle adjusters. My 06 klx has then as well as my klr250. Your definitely correct that it makes chain tension easier and quicker. Thanks for letting us know it's a direct swap.

Thanks for sharing. I was looking for exactly the same information, if the swingarms are interchangable.

I measure from the swing arm pivot to the axle center, making it equal on both sides. Doesn't matter how the adjusters work, snail cam or threaded adjusters. Just a way to know without question and only takes a minute.

True, but you need to have both swingarms on hand to confirm.

You missed what I was saying. I was saying that I use the measure when adjusting the chain. I have found that marks on swing arms and adjusters aren't always perfect, so I measure to make sure the distance is equal side to side. When I measure say 28-1/4" on one side the other side must be adjusted to the same 28-1/4" otherwise I need to either move one back or the other forward to get matching measures.

Whether the two swing arms are the same length in comparison was not the point. I'm sorry I wasn't clearer on that.
