Oil Change... Ahhhh
lol, all these methods of leaning the bike over, jb welding the spring (dumb idea) and using grease- just take some needle nose pliers and spread the large end of the spring out a bit so it stays put those two seconds you need to put the cover back on. no damage to bike by laying it on something and no foreign matter in your engine. it isn't rocket science people. it is however your bike, hence the ability to use any method you so wish, no matter how thought out said method may or may NOT be.

Since you're probably going to the HONDA shop anyway for the Shadow's oil filter, pick up some of their HP4 synthetic blend oil. It's cheaper than any of the full synthetic oils and makes a bike difference in shifting vs. using regular mc specific oil. Plus, you're supporting your local dealer who's probably just like any other local small businessman, just trying to make a buck to keep the doors open.
I have a Honda Shadow and a KLX250S.
(and a trx400ex and a LTZ400 - Sport ATV's)
I'm selling the TRX400EX if anybody is interested...
I like the "rebend" the spring idea best. Thanks.
eas, I'll try the HP4 next time around.
Thanks,
