Default Nobrakes 300cc Question

Hi Nobrakes,

Did you ever write up a how-to on the 300cc conversion? I've read lots of threads and found a parts list. I think I read that you have to re-time the cams. What's involved in re-timing the cams? Where did you find the data for that? I'm completely comfortable doing engine work (I'm an A&P mechanic) but want to make sure I have the appropriate data before undertaking it. Seems like it would be a fun project this winter. I like the stock gearing but would love a bit more torque.

Retiming the cams is not hard, just one of those things you need to pay attention be careful. The cam sprockets each have a timing mark on them. With the piston at TDC, you position the cams so both the timing marks are level with the edge of the head while also making sure you have the correct number of cam chain links between the two cams.

Notice the timing marks on the cams in this photo and how they line up with the edge of the head, and you count exactly 32 link pins from one side to the next:

Here is my 300cc install write-up:

I did a 331cc install also, but it's exactly the same procedure so I didn't take a bunch of photos of that.

Where do you get the Bill Blue 331 kit? Does he have a website? Can I still use the stock carb?
