New KLX250SF
I have been lurking around here since I bought my 09SF about a month and a half ago. Figured I would say Hi.
So far I have put around 2000 miles on it. Its just too much fun. My buddy picked up an 05 R6 about the same time and other than the straights I can MORE that keep up... I've been riding for around 10 years now and I just wanted a fun not too serious bike and this is just the ticket. I can haul in the corners and I'm stuck doing the speed limit in the straights. Just Perfect!
Mods:
NGK Iridium Plug (Well worth the $10)
GE Nighthhawk headlight bulb (Much brighter and no stupid coating on the blub)
Acerbis Sumo hand guards. (The bar weights are crazy to thread)
TCI Borrego Rack w/Givi E30 Mounted
Edge Tail Light on order
Blue Axle Blocks on order (Should make chain adjustments easier)
Future mods:
Seat Concepts seat (Rode 6 HR last saturday
)
Maybe a FMF Q4 will have to save my nickels and dimes.
I haven't seen too much discussion on tires. Any recommendations? I do quite a bit of riding in the rain but would like something a little stickier when its sunny and dry out.
Cheers,
J

If you are really able to hang with an R6 either the R6 or the rider or both have serious issues. Top speed on an R6 is over 150mph on your bike maybe 90 down hill with the wind at your back.
This thread is useless without pics.
Take a look at the Bridgestone BT-090. Read somewhere it´s a good choice. So far, I like the IRC Road Winner for both dry and wet conditions.
When the time comes, I´m thinking on replacing them with the same brand, but in 120 and 140 sizes.

Pics will be posted after I install the edge light.
The context of riding with a r6 is I'm as fast in the corners. Yes I will get powned on the freeway be he would too by the state patrol. You cant out run motorola. So yes urban/farm country roads.

I have 5400 miles on my SF. I replaced the rear tire with a BT045. It has "some" tread, is dual compound. The stock tire I took off had more to it than I expected. The tread was not quite down to the wear bars in the center. Small chicken strips on the right, none on the left. The tire had more meat and heft to it than I expected. I could have run it right down to or past the wear bars. It was NOT thin in the center like other tires I have changed. Once the BT045 was broke in, it seems to work well.
Front tire is still going strong. Sides are worn about the same as the center. I have a BT045 waiting. Both new tires are stock sizes.
I went for the dual compound because I use this bike to commute and the center of the rear tire was worn flat.
