Hahaha True! B should be M >The only nibbling i'll be doing will be on my paycheck for a EFI management!
This bike feels like a honda mtx 70cc moped i had when i was 16! Just more solid and more torque. i'm 1,90m so i can get both feet flat on the ground, which is nice when turning on a steep slope! Yep>fun bike , i'm happy with it!

@Klxster: Good deal! i'll follow that path! EFI management/fuel enhancer will be next on my list.

Okay... Mod time!
I've bought some parts for my FI bike!
-Twin air filter
-Higashi full system 40mm!
-Powercommander V
-High flow snorkel + drill some holes in the airbox cover
-I also want to remove the secondary butterfly and the smog/air system stuff.
-Gonna do the MCM mod!

I also have some questions..
- Does anyone have a tuned map for the 250?
- What size bolt do i need for pressing off the ACR system and how do you guys support the cam? I'll leave the ACR off as i heared it starts better without it.
I wanna use this setup, would 10mm supporting plates do the trick?

Why bother with the snorkel when you drilled holes? The whole idea of the snorkel is channeling any water to drip behind the filter, any holes in the lid kind of defeats the purpose.

One of the people here put in a second snorkel, but I don't know if it is channeling flow behind the filter or not.

Of course if you aren't concerned with any water/mud coming in under the seat pull the snorkel. I did that with the 650 since I knew I wouldn't be doing any serious water/muc on it. Not so with the 250.

My theory for the airbox cover... I already have the high flow snorkel but i've read that
you get the best performance running the bike without the airbox cover.
So i want to cut the snorkel just below the cover and drill some holes in the cover for easier breathing. The snorkel would/should create some "ram air" effect while driving.
I'm not so concerned with water getting in the airbox as i don't do any river crossing or heavy offroad..
I have my bike abroad, and will go there in april to work on the bike and do the mods.

quick handling on the road is great for the 250,

but unfortunately if you want to get more power your gonna have to get more cylinders.

the 250 only has one cranking out 21 HP? I believe. probably wrong on that.

I got mine to 80 MPH one time going down a bridge, and was going about 70 MPH going up.

on flat roads, I can get up to 80 MPH thats fast, wouldn't really want to drive that fast all the time though....

compare that to other motorcycles that have 115 HP.

but compared to some 250 cc motors the KLX250s is probably just as fast if not faster.

I got a shop to install a stage one dynojet kit, everything else is stock, and I just recently installed a two brothers racing exhuast, havent been out on the road with it yet to see if I gained any HP.

After working on my bike i have some good and bad things...
First the good:
-Twin air filter installed
-Exhaust > CRD header with the LX3 damper, sounds great! (I wanted to keep the silencer tip option instead of the Higashi)
-PowercommanderV installed (easy system!)
-Modified airbox cover
-Removed the secondary butterfly and the smog/air system
-ACR removed ( instant starting! hot or cold!)

Now the bad....
My cam chain is stretched and therefor i did not do the MCM yet.
The chain will be replaced in August...
Had some work done at the kawa dealer because of the recall
While they did the valve adjustment they concluded some scoring on the cam journals and decided to overhaul it with sandpaper!
I'm not sure but i think it is time for a new cil.head...
What do you guys think about this?

I have no thots on the work they did on the head - it seems they had something in mind...?

Assuming your head is not destroyed:
Pull the airbox cover (there is no ram effect under the seat), load up this map - http://www.powercommander.com/downlo...17-023-502.pvm - and you should be on your way.. To dial in the bike any better will require a dyno - if you do the dyno tune, tell em you want a target WOT AFR of 12.8:1..

I used KLXster's recipe and I got my bike to 96 on a flat straight road with stock gears, head tucked, slight tail wind. $500 invested: full FMF PQ4 & megabomb, stock filter, airbox lid off, screen removed, dyno jet 2152 kit with 144 main jet, needle on top clip 1N, MCM.

KLX250, 80mph downhill is stock KLX power.. Once your bike is set up correctly for your new exhaust system, it'll approach 100 mph.. It'll produce about 23 hp with a power band that pulls to redline - and it should pull 1st gear wheelies on engine power alone..

Klxster,
please do share your thoughts about the cil.head... Its abit more noisy when the engine is warm then before.. The dealer sayed that it is the chain and it will better when the chain is replaced(doing this in August+CCT) but i'm worried i have to less oil pressure due the increased cam clearance...

BTW I do run the 502 map in the PCV(the only tuned map on their website), and there is some performance benefit over the zero map. Also the map looks like a rough auto-tune map, with some weird nummers.. I will have it dyno tuned in the future, but if the head is toast i'll probably go big bore with a new(maybe flowed) head.. Will try it next time with the airbox cover off..

Ps mine runs +/-140km/h at 10.000rpm with 14x45 gears..(fast enough for me on this bike!)
