If you can't find a shop that will allow returns due to size issues, then you may be better off dealing with a big online store that will allow returns, even if there is an occasional small fee involved for the return. If dealing with a shop, I can understand their unwillingness to make a free return if your dissatisfaction is due to just not liking the style or such. I know you're probably not like the proverbial woman-in-a-shoe-store scenario, but most shops don't have the means to deal with numerous returns on something like boots. Their margins just don't usually allow this. Many shops will special order with the option to return if you guarantee and are clear on the responsibility of paying for the return up front. Some will only require that you front the return price before the order to insure that they don't get stuck with the boots in their inventory. Many people don't understand why many/most shops do this, but it is often a necessary evil for trying to maintain the cost and amount of their inventory. A lot of us look at most motorcycle shops as being like your local Walmart, and that's just not the case.

I like your choices, 6thgear, the green looks awesome to me. I've been looking at getting some new gear. But since my helmet isn't really "green" I may not be going with such a green color scheme like you have.

Only had my bike a couple months and only been out on the trails one weekend. Right now my gear is a pair of jeans, hiking boots, a long sleeve shirt, some gray gardening gloves, and the helmet pictured below.
