so I was just thinking a brand new 2012 bike should just start up, in 75F+ weather without choke
but maybe im wrong then

I also have a 2009 Genuine Rattler for milk runs for the kids. The auto-choke works well.

You notice all the smog stuff on your 2012 bike. It's not like the old days for sure.

I had the #38 pilot jet in for a while. Way too rich, but it would start without the choke most all the time.

Sorry deej...I can never let this one go.

I like to call it The Deej Dance. But then I have nightmarish visions of Deej dancing around in his garage trying to get his bike started .

Yeah I need to figure out which bike now will be my grocery getter
I sold my ruckus to get the klx it had a nice trunk on the back and with the huge underseat room made it perfect for that

Probably be the blue one, has a small inner basket and I have a front basket I could use, just I hate that front one looks like an old lady bike then

MikeW, it had better be either the blue one or the Honda on the far end. I've seen families of five in other countries riding on those bikes, so it ought to handle a few groceries...LOL!

Nice stable.

made a video today
First was my ct90, no choke sitting for at least a day and overnight
cant get any colder then that. 2 kicks

Next was the klx
overnight cold start, choke on this time since everyone says do that

then another start 3 hrs later, I would consider that a cold start since its only 10 in the morning parked in my garage, that was no choke this time

Would of done a cold start video of my 81 passport no choke too but its stored elsewhere, that starts on one press of the electric starter button

So let me know if my bike seems like it starts normally
choke or no choke

To me it takes forever to start compared to the wide variety of bikes I have, and have had

I'm curious why you're not cranking a bit longer interval than 1 or 2 seconds.

You're used to the fast startup that your other bikes yield. Yes, the KLX often requires a little more spinning. The next time you're in the carb do the starter jet drilling. You'll notice a faster crankup.
