Default New on the 2009 KLX250S EFI! First questions..

Hi all

I just bought the above, and I have some questions on some customization plans - hopefully you can help me
Done so far:
- modified footpegs (missing paint)
- CCT from Krieger (thanks KLX678)
- 30 mm bar risers
- Polisport handguards
- KDX-snorkel
- Delkevic Muffler
- Boosterplug mounted
- raised the rear end by 117 mm links instead of org. 119,5 mm links.
- Heavy duty aluminium bash plate

I am 90 kg, and I think my forks are a bit soft for my riding, any experiences on using heavier oil in the forks or do I need heavier springs?
If springs are the way to go, then where to buy them in Europe?

I need also a higher seat option? Do it myself or any aftermarket options?

My bike is running 14/42 gearing and it seems like it is revving quite hight in 6th gear. How many RPM should it be at 90 km/h on the speedometer?

Best shop for aftermarket parts in Europe? Any advice?

I have a KDX snorkel and Delkevic muffler, is boosterplug doing it's thing regarding it not running lean?
Should I do an O2 delete or EJK?

My 07 has a 10,500 rpm redline, your not going to get a 250 to pull much over 130kph unless your going downhill.

90 kph is around 55 mph and a shade under 6000 rpm is right for it based on gearing, but tire size will vary it slightly. I have a speed calculator excel spreadsheet that will give values as variables are changed. I used it for predicting changes between tire sizes when comparing dual sport tires to sport (SM) tires to know what gearing might be needed. Also to see about sprocket sizes.

The 250 will rev 6000 rpm all day long no problems, that's still 2600 rpm under the horsepower peak at around 8600 rpm. The 10,000 rpm redline is reving well past the horsepower peak, but can be done. Oddly enough I rode a Honda Reflex 250 scooter one time and when throttling up the engine was spinning around 6500 rpm and when running 55-60 mph it was still up there pretty high. If a scooter engine can take it so can a dual sport engine. You just have to get used to letting the engine sing.

Thanks for this, I will test it again and try to get used to that RPM at cruising speed.. Before this I had a heavy 650 thumper doing 3700-3900 RPM at 90 kmh - quite a difference! :O
After I fitted the CCT, there is no rattle at 5-6000 RPM, so I'm confident the engine will run it for as long as I need to

Thanks, mine is also redlining there I think, but I'm not asking about topspeed, I will probably never go more than 100 kmh anyways
Was just wondering if my gearing was alright

New challenge - when hot, it almost won't start until I give it a little throttle, what might that be?
I have tried turning up idle speed, but no change.

Any advice?

Will try to disconnect Boosterplug next time I go in the garage.
