Need Help!
All the levels are good. No MCM mods, I'll look more closely at the brakes but it rolls very easily and doesn't seem to be the problem. And the idle going up after revving the engine in neutral seems to be a diaphragm problem. Wish me luck guys! I'll be back on tomorrow morning to answer questions and will provide an update tomorrow night whether or not it was the spark plug and/or diaphragm
Could be anyone of the things mentioned, sounds like something is plugged, main jet, needle jet, muffler, could have a wicked air leak, at idle spray WD40 around carb, when idling see if engine sound changes, also could be ignition, black box going south. Should go 85-90 easy. You will just have to troubleshoot each system, download shop manual, free online. Do the easiest thing first, don't automatically make up your mind it is the most expensive repair. You'll get it, just work your way from the carb to the muffler.
Just wondering, what would that do/ how does that work? I have never heard of that (I'm also a noob)
The idea is that if there is an air leak, the WD will be sucked in and close it off, allowing proper running. Then if no change the WD will evaporate without leaving a trace of your foolish attempt.
Okay, so spraying WD would be a fix, tell me whats wrong, or both? Sorry for asking so many stupid questions! Its my first bike I have actually had to trouble shoot instead of the "Here are parts, replace everything" method I used on the TTR.
I'm very glad I found this forum, you guys have been so helpful so far! I thought my post would be lost with no responses, but it has been quite the opposite!

This is true, and believe it or not, soaking the diaphragm in HOT water shrinks and stiffens it and makes installation much easier. Soak it in hot water (I use just off boil) for 5 minutes, towel dry, install.

WD40 helps you diagnose an air leak. It won't fix it. I've also heard of using other substances like propane. The idea is that the stuff gets into the intake tract and you'll notice a change in engine speed.
You could also try just pulling the muffler (silencer) and taking a quick run. That should be an easy diagnosis of plugged exhaust system. It will be loud! Careful where the exhaust gasses from the header are pointed and don't melt anything. It will likely also be running lean without the silencer on so keep the ride short.

I say pull the silencer and go for a run, cheap and easy, still won't accelerate? Or gets even worse? Severely lean condition, check the spark plug, tape the air box (I don't remember if you said snorkel was still in place) then go for a ride, still not doing what you want? Probably a stuck diaphragm or plugged jet.
