Default mpg seams a little low for stock...

after calculating my mpg from the ocotillo ride i did a few days ago, it seams my mileage was kinda low. i came out with 65, 65, 60 (off-road here so seams right) and 59? i was doing about 65 most of the time with short burst to 70, is it the higher rpm riding that does it? its just werid cus when i first got it, road basicly the same roads, the same speed with my dad and got nearly 80 mpg. bikes stock 09 for those wondering.

Hmmmm when i got mine i was only averaging around 70 but now im gettin like 50-60 depending on how I ride,, But I also have a bigger jet so I dont know..

Check your airfilter see if anything got in there clogging it up

and also stay away from economy gas.. stay with franchise,, shell,bp,exxon.ammco ,ext.... Like I said before Economy gas=shi*tty gas this day in age,, Water'd down gas will throw it off also

What octane?

I try to keep the rpm's on the highway at 7k max. That should be 70mph indicated.

60-65mph indicated you'll probably see a lot better fuel economy.

I'm pretty sure all the highway mpg ratings come from when the vehicle is run 55mph. And for bikes it's usually a tiny Asian dude at 145lbs.

That is complete speculation about the asian dude, but it's probably somewhat true.

My 09 stock averages

Under 4k rpmz

70mpg +

Over 5 and under 7k rpmz..

64-66mpg

Mostly 55mph and over 6-9k rpm range

58-62 mpg

WOT and a full tank...My guess

53mpg

Go jet kit and you can subtract 10mpg off of each of these numbers if not more.....My guess is that the USA bikes have a different timing set up for emissions....Alot of people post up some great mpg numbers....But these numbers above reflect my 200lb self over the last 3 months and 2500 miles on my 09 in New York State..

Yeah, I'm getting like 63mpg riding anywhere from 2500rpm - approx 7000rpm on streets and trails. True dual sporting variances.
