Default MCM & ACR Spring

For those who are knowledgeable, it seems that some (most?) folks who’ve done the MCM mod on these bikes just pull the spring from the ACR rather than have a machine shop reposition it - since ACR is pretty much of no use with electric start.

Having not been in the engine yet to see it for myself, my question: can the spring be reinstalled at a later time if needed? Like, say, if I decide to install a kick start some day? Or once it’s been pulled, is it out for good?

The spring is easily removed or put back on. But why remove it in the first place? You may be in a situation where you want to bump start the bike.......like low battery charge.

Brewster, you remove the spring so that you CAN bump start, electric start, etc, (when you are running the MCM)..

Replacing the spring with the MCM still on the engine causes non starting especially when hot..

Repositioning the KACR correctly, for use with the MCM, allows normal KACR operation and starting ops..

That and the electric start doesn't need a compression release in the first place on the 250. That is a left over from the kick start 300s.
