Master link pliers (home made)

Master link pliers (home made)
I recently saw some pliers made especially for removing the keeper on a master link. I think they were made by Motion Pro and were ~$20. It gave me the idea that I could modify a pair of my own pliers.
I ended up seeing a pair of linesmans pliers at Menards for $2.99 and off I went.
Ground one side of the jaws shorter.
Used the Dremel to cut a pocket in the short jaw. ( Use a carbide bit or some type of grinding wheel, I used the carbide bit.) You don't have to cut this pocket but it helps locate the pliers on the master link pin.
Use it!!
A decent pair of pliers work without the mods, but the mods make it childs play to get the clip off. Now I can clean that chain.

Nice tool for when your in the garage.
In the tool belt on the trail I prefer a pair of needle nose vice grips. Use them to press the side plate on even w/ o rings and removes/installs the clip easily too.
Seen them used as a emergency shifter in a pinch
