Default Master Link - 2006 KLX250

My master link was a little stiff as in was always easily spotted since it was not in line. So I replaced it with a new one.

Same thing. The picture is the new one but it is how the old looked also.

Easily straightened out with slight finger pressure.

Any ideas why it will not flex enough to straighten out? Plenty of grease inside the link.

Should I worry? Is this a long term problem? or just live with it??

Took the clip off to have a good look.

I have seen links with 5 or 6 o-rings from 1 or 2 not being noticed and left on the backside when replacing the master link. Took a good look and this was not the case.

Was able to move the groves for the clip inward just a few thousandths. This loosened up the link. Still a little tighter than most of the regular links but not much.

Give the wheel a good spin, stand back and see if you can spot the master link by its alignment (or lack of ) and it is not easy to spot.

Expect it will loosen up with miles.

Comments and ideas still appreciated.

I think if it rides through the countershaft sprocket properly it would be good. When you set the chain tension, does it still look like that? How old is the chain? perhaps the issue is with the end links an not the master link.

Rolls thru the CS easily.

4600 miles on the chain - lubed often.

I would be inclined to just ride it.
