I know everyone is gonna bash me on this one, .....I absolutely love my KLX, bought in November of 05, and currently have 13 grand on the odometer. I will also never sell this bike. But if I could go back in time, because of my weight and height I would buy a Honda 650. I know its a heavier bike, but I really think that would have been a better choice for me. That being said, either bike that you are looking at will work for ya. There are pros and cons I'm sure for each bike. Read all of the opinions on here, I'm sure these guys will steer you in the right direction.

as for making a 450 street legal, what hoops do i have to jump through to plate it? I dont need this thing to be really legal, just enough to jump between trails, and occasionally to work.

 

If you live in NJ- make sure it is a true street legal bike- I picked up a ktm 200 for my son with a de tag but nj would not let me put a tag on it. When I picked up my 08 ktm 450 exc-r from CT- I sat in NJDMV for over 1 hour while Trenton had to "approve it". NJ is cracking down bikes that my not be legal for road use.

I did a dual sport run last year and the state forest police pulled over every 2 stroke bike checking papers.
