Default Longer cables on new bars

Hey all, sorry it's been so long. I moved to Oklahoma and had to leave my bike in Kansas. I get back and ride it at least once a week. I recently bought new bars from a friend and installed them last night. They are renthal bars, meant for a Honda 400ex (atv) but they fit on the bike and they're comfortable for me. Problem I'm running into is that the throttle cables and the clutch cable were getting stretched. I was able to reroute the clutch cable to get a little more distance from it, but I still had to cut the ends of the grips off (throttle tube as well) and scoot them about an inch in on the bars. The cables are still tight, and when I turn the handlebars left, the throttle rises. It's happened to me before on the stock bars, but I definitely need longer cables now so I can put the grips and controls further out where they need to be. Does anybody know if I can use the clutch or throttle cables from a different model of bike, or is there a site I can custom order longer cables? Of course for that I would need to know how long they are and then add about 2 inches.

I've also contemplated buying one of the HID headlights. Any insight on that would be appreciated as well.

The throttle cables are going to be custom pieces-Motion Pro is a good source. The only other oe option for the clutch cable is for the KLX300. It's only about 1-1.5" longer than the 09+ cable but it works fine with the 1.5" risers I use.

I went with the Klx 650 clutch cable, it's slightly longer than the Klx 300 cable and had no issues installing it

+1 on the KLX300 application for your clutch cable. The Motion Pro cable for a 2007 KLX300 is about 2 inches longer than what was stock on my '12 250.

Thank you guys so much for the input. After posting this I went to Motion Pros website and after diddling around I found that they already have longer cables for the klx250. It says the clutch cable is 3" longer, and their push/pull throttle cables are 1.3/1.5 inches longer than stock, respectively. I've put the link down below so you can check it out if you want. This is for the SF version, but I don't think it should be any different than the S

I recently put 3.5" risers on with pro taper CR High bars. I got the 3" longer clutch cable from MP and they JUST barely fit...and I mean barely. So anything less than that height will be fine. Though you may have a bit of slack depending how high you go.

Posted this on another thread also, how did you get it to work?

I have an 09SF, and was looking for a longer clutch cable. A KLX300 cable was exactly 1" longer than stock (and what I use now for raised bars) it JUST fits.

The gen 2 KLR650 cable # 54011-0556 was +3" from my stock cable, but it doesnt work for me... All fits fine at the lever and clutch (independently), but there is not enough adjustment in the housing length to allow you to bolt it on (housing wont go short enough to get you enough slack to hook it up at both ends). Thought id save someone the $20 and time trying it. Not sure how others got it to work, but couldnt even get it close on my 09.

Side note: has anyone measured the OE KLX300 cable vs Motion Pros? I wonder if there is a difference
