LED Tail Lights
My LED light came in today and replaced the tailight bulb. Man that thing is bright! I had my son actuate the brake so I could view it from a distance - it actually kind've hurts your eyes, this was at dusk. The flashing makes it incredibly noticable. If you've ever had that feeling that the car approaching rapidly from behind doesn't see you stopped at the stop light and is growing alarmingly larger in your rear view mirror - this is for you.
The unit from Dual-Star does give off a lot of light. I have seen several bikes with them installed and there is NO DOUBT that the brake light is on when you step on the brakes.
There are a few options to set up, if you choose. I've seen just about all of them used on different bikes.
The big "X" of the light gives it away!
Good product!

Cool, thanks for the info. I wonder why Acerbis doesn't just make that tail light in LED anyway. They have an LED light but I am not fond of how it looks or if will really do the job on the street.
Being in Ottawa, Ontario, I ordered mine directly from the manufacturer in Victoria, BC. The web site hasn't been updated lately (http://www.homebody-design.com/catalog/brake/brake.html) and the company has changed their name to "Gizmo-Mill" (http://www.gizmomill.com/), but that site hasn't been updated since 2004!!!
Anyway, I placed my order by e-mail and followed up with a phone call (many, actually ... mostly to an answering machine). Just when I was about to reach my frustration limit and cancel an order that I was beginning to doubt ever existed, the package arrived.
I got the KLR650 unit, and just like everyone here says: turn it upside down, squeeze the mounting tabs a little bit, and screw the cover back on. Installation takes just a few minutes. (The only thing simpler to do on this bike is pressing the estart button!).
Bottom line: GREAT product, TERRIBLE customer service. (My recommendation: get the former, avoid the later).

just got my led tail light module today, looks good and is very bright. does anyone know if the flashing sequence is legal, may be confused with emergency lights. Has anyone had any problems with the cops.
I found out when I was playing with replacing incandesant bulbs with LED's and I replaced the flasher unit with one designed for LED's was if I removed the indicator repeater (the light on the dashboard that flashes when your indicators are on) then everything worked fine. Of course then you are missing the light warning you your blinkers are on.

Not exactly the same as what you are talking about Mav, but a while back I removed my stock instruments but kept the indicator bulbs - neutral, high beam, over temp, and blinker. I recently replaced those with some high brightness, diffuse, LED replacements. But the blinker circuit pulls current in both direction - one direction for the left blinker and current flows in the other direction for the right blinker. Of course, LEDs only flow current in one direction so I could have wired in a rectifier which would light the single LED like the stock incandescent bulb. But instead I just wired up two sockets in parallel for the blinker and put in two LEDs reversing the polarity of one of them. Now one lights when the left indicator is on, and the other lights when the right indicator is on - kind'a like your car.
