not for nothing but given the amount of klx's out there compared to the amount of the crf's and ktm's and whatnot i'm starting to think that we keep getting bumped further down the list of "things to do" at clarke. i'm about at the point now to say f'm and just go with what i have and live with the poor range.
i seriously doubt that a company could blow a due date by over a month by accident. i think they knew it wouldn't be ready but wanted us to hold off getting another tank, not there are many options there, that's why we didn't know about the delay until almost the due date. i could be way off base here but it wouldn't be the first time a company pulled this type of thing. i understand they're motivation i just disagree with how it's been handled.

 

Well the lack of range and the amount of mods required to get this bike ready for the type of riding that I am doing is why mine is For Sale and has been replaced by an Honda XR250R. The expense and the amount of ride time I can muster just didn't compute. My XR has a Clarke 3.8 gal. tank that I just installed,(it was ordered and delivered within 5 days andis very good quality by the way), but I am not prepared to miss some of the trails around here that require long range fuel capacity again this summer. Last ride season I was limited and that is just not going to happen again this year. Miss that E-start though. Good luck on the tank guys!

 

I'm just waiting on Clarke....what's a couple more weeks? I had talked to them months ago and they spoke to me with respect. For most of us, I can't imagine 'living with it' a few more weeks can be that big a deal unless the wife takes back your allowance if you don't spend it

 

Well I guess the grass is always greener on the other side of the trail. The XR`s are good bikes though. I guess it was taking too much to turn the KLXinto what he personally wanted in a bike.The XRhas a higher seat and no e-start which I guess aren`t huge issues, but can you plate it is the question? I know we can platethem here in Japan.Range isn`t amajor issue with me, but I like the added peace of mind that the clarke will give us.

When I was deciding which bike to buy about a year ago, Ilooked at theXR250Motard and the DRZ400SM as options, but decided on the KLX because of the lower seat height, water cooling,6 speeds andno requirement for safety inspections. I personally have enjoyed tailoring this bike to my liking and have become more attached to it with each mod. Icould wait a year for the Clarketank and still be perfectly content with hitting reserve at 90 to 100 miles. My latest dynocoupledwith the seatof my pants tells me I don`t need to rush into large bore either[8D]

 

Works for me. I took the two 33 oz bottles in my camel back, didn't even notice them in there. And I also had two of the 22 oz bottles in the pelican case.

One more vote for the 33 oz bottles but in the 1400 case. Two will fit with room to spare.

These guys are right up the road so I just bought one for a test. With a Clark tanK and two bottles,
I could get some KLR-650 type range out of my bike Come to think about it Clark is pretty close too.

I just got it today and have not filled it yet. It looks like it will pour just fine as is. (famous last words)

I got my 1400 at the local welding store. (old stock) Most people run the 1200 on KLX because it looks a bit better on the bike. The 1400 fits great though. Many way to mount them up, and to which was is best??? I like
strong, simple and cheap myself.

 

How are you mounting it?????Homo Depot u-bolts? That's what i used to mount a Dee-Zee aluminum box to my atv.........I could do the same for the bike and just use some silicone to seal it off........I just need to cover the bolt good to eliminate the rub effect of them.
