Default Knocking Noise 18 Klx250s

Going to pose the question cause I'm fingered after a 300km ride today and searching isn't giving me much luck... kinda

Bike is 2018 Klx250s. 9000km/5600mi - well maintained. Mostly dual sport use.

Problem: Bike seems to be making a knocking noise from the front end when accelerating from traffic lights or any standing stop. I honestly thought it was coming from the suspension but this make not much sense 😳

Only noticed this today, best to see if I can work it out before using again. I thought to check the steering head set nut also.

Honestly, I thought it would be a sprocket issue but I looked at them when I got home and only some slight ware. Chain was a bit loose, so will tension to check off course. Also will check the front sprocket nut.

Any other suggestions?

Sudden strange noises get me all paranoid and bothered when out on the trails/roads 😢🤒🤒

Also taking it to a mechanic that would understand what I am talking about is a bit hard where I live. This bike is very rare. Would have to ship it by train to a mechanic I know who understands more than scooters.

Thanks

Sounds like all of the things you have mentioned would be items I would also look at.
The other suggestion I would make would be to make a recording of the noise it makes. That may help with diagnosis.

Is the knocking rhythmic or random? Does it have a distinct pattern...rise or fall in a predictable pattern...does it rise/fall or keep pace with engine rpm...does it rise/fall with forward speed or when you slow down?

After washing down the bike it looks like it was nothing more than a whacked chain guide 💩

Good catch, a daily walk around would have caught that misshap.

I had a similar noise situation.

I had lowered the rear swing arm so much the chain path was really high in relation to the frame, so it was running up against the upper guide wheel which rotates loosely and made this awful rattling noise.

Glad it wasn't something serious!

I think mine does that as well! Is there anyway to fix it?
