Klx300...
As predicted, Kawai made the KLX300 series (for both dual sport and SM). Seems interesting, but the question is, does our old 250's (carbed and EFI) still have a place in the dual sport world now since the major gripe originally was the lack of power and now it's been addressed by the manufacturer themselves.

Hey @VWJETTY , you ought'a change the title to "2021 KLX300 Dual Sport"..
This should be a game changer for our community as anyone with a KLX300R (me) or a 300cc KLX 250 knows, they make significantly more power than the 250cc engine.
Also, if the article I read is correct, the 2021 DS uses the same cams as the R .. This implies a more performance oriented cam profile BUT IN FACT means just the opposite !
It actually means that the entire lineup of 300cc machines are using cams that allow passing emissions testing.
This means that waay more power is likely to be unleashed with a simple cam change AND a complementary reprogramming of the ECM fueling scheme via PCFC or EJK !
Exciting times !

Klxster, yup title changed.
Good information to know. And it's only like 200/300 more than the 250. So it kinda pushes the old 250's a little out of the market I'd say. Never rode at 300 but i imagine for these small bikes, it should make for a more enjoyable ride.
