Default First 2011 KLX250s

Hi all,

Love this site . . . sooo much helpful info! I just bought a 2011 KLX250s with only 2700kms on it. It's pretty much stock other than BarkBusters, Protaper bars and engine guard. I was going for a CRF250l but am glad I ended up with the Kawa. I'm mechanically inclined and love to get my hands greasy. I've had road bikes and dirt bikes before and am comfortable doing carbs and most mods.

For the KLX250 I've ordered a Uni air filter and DJ kit 2152. I'm also planning on buying an FMF Q4 Hex once they finally decide to restock them.

I need some advice on the following:
- I'm planning on doing the MC mod. Is it still recommended to be done? Do the cam caps have to be unbolted and removed or can the gears simply be unbolted and moved as per some YouTube videos?
- Any advice re jetting? I'm comfortable doing it, just looking for input as to whether I follow DJ instructions to a tee or not given mods I'm doing? BTW not planning on removing air box lid, only snorkel. I live in Ontario, Canada (not high above sea level or anything).
- Though I'm looking at the FMF Q4 (want the power but not the noise), does anyone have experience with the Delkevic Stubby 14" Carbon Fibre? According to Delkevic they're the quietest option they sell, in stock and a lot cheaper than the FMF. Thoughts?

Sorry if some of my questions are already answered elsewhere - I've been going through the site trying to glean all I can.

BTW - have DJ 2206 kit if anybody wants it. It came with the bike but was never used. I decided to go with the 2152 even though I know I could have also used the 2206.

Thanks! Paul
