Best? Dunno.

Good price? Look for Moose / Utah.

well i decided to build my own out of 1/8 diamond plate steel i have laying around just because i like to fab things. Ya i know its heavier than aluminum, which i dont care, nothing more that a huge steak dinner i might eat, lol. I have a mig, arc, plasma cutter and can powdercoat in my shop at home. (Also have a 4 post car lift in there too, hehe). I'll post here when i take up the project in a couple weeks.

I bought the Moose Skid plate. I like it a lot, but, because it is aluminum, they tend to send road noise up to the rider. My plastic one was much quieter, but broke under the single track pressures of riding.

There used to be a discount code for the ricochet skid plate. If you look around they come up for sale from time to time.

I honestly dont see why 10 bucks of aluminum is worth 100? I am liking the idea of a custom built steel 1/8" diamond plate, shouldnt weight much more than a few pounds more than aluminum when Im done. I'll powdercoat it with left over silver that i did my Cuda stock rims with that came out killer, It should look close to the aluminum color.

Keep a form and maybe you can sell some to fellow riders. Good luck and post some pics of the final product.

LOL, I would rather give the forms away instead of making them. I don't have the time. A couple years ago i made some custom saddle bag mounts that are removable for hondaline saddle bags that go on the VTX1800. I have many guys on the VTX forum wanting me to make them. My mounts took 3 days start to finish. Probably would be quicker since i have it down, but they couldn't pay me enough to use up my spare time.
