Default KLX250s Battery suggestions?

Anybody have any suggestions for a replacement battery for my 2006 KLX250s. To my best understanding the battery is original 6 + years old and I am looking into being proactive and replacing the battery for the spring 2012. Anybody have any comments on battery replacing the YTX7L-BS? Stay with Yuasa ? I’ve seen cheap ones, middle of the road ones and of course the OEM Yuasa battery which is $80-100 depending on where you buy it.

PS--Thanks to all for your replies in earlier posts!!!! I really appreciate it.

Thanks!!

I think I'm going with the Shorai lithium-iron battery. That's not lithium-ion. They are more expensive, but, they don't sulfate...which is what kills a lot of batteries. They are very light, and are small, too.

Its still a derivative of lithium-ion battery (ion, is not specific)... therefore it shares many of the same advantages and disadvantages of lithium-ion batterys... not to say it isnt one of the better and more solid/stable lithium-ion batterys though

Hmmmm I've thought about this since I'm coming up on 6 years next month. Its been absolutely flawless in all those years and 15,000 miles. I really think the reasons my battery has done so well, is 1.) it didn't sit on some shelf very long before it was installed, 2.) I bought the bike right out of the crate, I watched it being put together, and 3,) I keep it plugged in once a week on the maintainer.

On a related note, my wife's bike which I bought in 2006, six months after I got the KLX sat on the floor, and I had to replace the battery in just a few months. I believe that batteries are mass produced, and sit too long before being installed. I added the kick starter on her bike for just over $100, just as a backup. So far her replacement battery has been great.

I use this exact battery in my KLX. It works flawlessly

Same as the expensive ones. If you ask, he'll put larger cables on, but the original cables have worked fine for me.

I use this one in my car

I think you reversed the battery link posts. i highly doubt you can start your bike on 2300mah.

But you think it will start my car?

The 2300 turns the bike over faster and longer than the stock battery. These batteries are amazing. Same as the big dollar ones, only cheaper. The big one took 30 lbs out of the front of my car, which has 12-1 compression, so it's not easy on batteries.

For reference, the 2300 is just slightly bigger then 4 C cells.

I would stick to yuasa or go with sumthin else. Remember you get what you paid for. And if you are not good at taking care of your battery in the offseason, you should probably get a better battery. Or I guess if you dont mind replacing your battery every yr or so, go for the cheapies haha.
