Since I replaced the rear tire with a Dunlop D606 120/90-18, the tall tire has made sixth gear almost worthless. I'm putting on the 13T front sprocket next week, hopefully it will make a difference all around.

How does a different tire affect 6th gear? does that inch make a difference? Or is the traction so good now that it grabs instead of spinning? I'm confused, but then again I'm always confused.

I'm always confused since I switched to gin! Yes, I would think the taller tire would change the rear gearing and therefore lowering (or is it increasing) the rpm range. Oh look at that it's 4pm, time to head to the bar!

Yep, that one's way too easy.

Default Had to try it once!

I have a 09 klx 250 s stock gearing fmf pipe and hedder, dynojet jets, uni filter and a kdx intake snorkle. Had my bike out for a run today my buddy was on a 91 yamaha radien 600 so all on road . Anyways he made a few runs past me so I played back a little knowing there no way to beat him on the street passed a few cars at a max speed of 137kph no problem I have had the bike up to 145kph one time pre uni filter and snorkle. A little farther down the road not another car in sight going up a long hill I pulled 143kph that impressed me a 240lb guy on a 250cc bike. Then I had to know what can it do? With a light head wind on level straight road I pulled 150kph just for a second mostly 149kph but I did see 150kph (93mph) for a second or two. I dont in anyway call this a safe thing to try but I had to know and im very impressed with the little dualsport didnt think it would ever go that fast.

my .02, Stock the bike has hard time pulling the stock 14/42 gearing, uncorked it pulls it just fine. but 1st remains too high for tight trail work

14/45or44 was a good compromise all-around gear for me, But have gone back to the stock 42 rear and swap 13/14 front sprockets depending on where the ride is going. 14/45 requires a longer chain fyi

OK Tiger, admit it...you have a 17" wheel installed in the front, don't you?
