Hi guys, ghost from the past. A quick update, still have the 09 530 EXC. It has been all around the Midwest on many off road multi day adventure rides. And it spent this last summer racing in the Midwest enduro series, every two weeks all summer with long adv rides in between races, I would say it's sitting at around 10,000 miles with absolutely zero mechanical problems of any type. One intake valve moved .001 of an inch in that time.
It is starting to use a little oil so I may put a piston in it this spring just to avoid any potential catastrophic failure.

 

I'm not trying anything better than my KLX so I don't know what I'm missing. Now if I hit the point where I want something better I'll start looking. Hope your oil issues aren't anything major. I like all kinds of bikes, so it's good tohear hen someone is having fun. Here's to your taking care of whatever and it not recurring again for a long time. Have fun... hard to ride a motorcycle of any kind and not having fun.
