Just thought I'd share for those who may be interested.
The little 310 project is complete, and i'm more than thrilled with the results.

What I did.
Found a used KLX300 cylinder on ebay.
Got a 80mm overbore Wiesco piston kit.
Had the cylinder bored /plated at Milenium Tech.
Cleaned-up porting in the head.

All said and done I spent appox. $250 keeping in mind that friends / contacts played a good part in keep the price down.
Also I've retained the nikasil bore the engine and cooling system was designed with and did not break into the coolant passages when doing the over-bore. I'm just more comfortable with this design.

Now, the intention here is too share what I did as general info for those interested, not get a war started on the 351-BB kit. I looked seriously at the BB jit but personally decided it was not for me.

That being said the 310 is a great option as well.

That's cool, I like it. You kept the cost down, and you are happy with the results...thats what it's all about.

 

Sounds like a good option to some of the kits being offered. I would like to get a 351 kit, but due to the cost it'll have to wait a long time if ever. I am certainly happy with the change in performance in doing the cheaper mods.

Another bore upgrade to add to the KLX. I wonder if anyone has done a flat twin engine swap?
